What a beginning to a very busy term. Most of Year 6 have had a wonderful two days in Canberra. Two members of our intrepid Canberra tour group, Amanda M and Isabella B, had to cut short their trip to return to Sydney Thursday evening for a solid night’s sleep at home before venturing out to Homebush to represent the Diocese at the Polding Athletics Carnival. After a busy day visiting a range of venues the girls stayed awake all the way to Campbelltown. This didn’t dent their enthusiasm about getting up and competing the next day though.
We had six representatives at the Polding Carnival across a range of event:
Isabella B – 200m Run; Fergus B – 200m Run and High Jump; Antonio C – 1500m and 800m Runs; Cristiano C – 1500m Run; Catherine M – High Jump and Martha S – High Jump.
Congratulations to each and every one of these students who should be proud of their achievements. Mrs Statos has written up a report on the whole day.
The K-2 Swimming Program started on Monday. This year sees the first of our Infants Swimming Program Swimming Carnival days. In this way we are extending the opportunity of racing to all of Kindergarten and reducing the amount of time children in Years 1 and 2 have to sit in the sun and wait for a paddling or 25m race. Each group of levelled swimmers will race within their grade and lesson time slot. A reminder that any students who would be eligible to swim at Cluster level in 2020 are still eligible to attend both carnivals. Courtney Statos has the organisation of both days firmly in hand.
Tuesday night was the final Art & Craft Show Meeting before the Show which is just a few days away now. I would like to thank everyone who has assisted with the preshow workload most especially Jonathan Gross (Convenor) and Claire Mukhi and Maryanne Blackman his trusty sidekicks.
We are only one month out from the P & F Annual General Meeting which will be held on Wednesday 20 November at 7:00pm in the school library. Please click here to make a nomination.
As usual all position will be made vacant and those nominees will be announced commencing with President. A google doc nomination forms is attached for your convenience.
Secondly after discussions at the last two P & F AGMs it has been decided to use the money raised over the next few years to begin work on the School Advisory Team – Agile Learning Spaces master plan which I hope will be ready to share with the community early next year.
Additionally each year I ask members of the community to contribute any ideas they have for other things which are of interest to them that may not have been included in our major plans. If you are eager to have the school purchase anything with P & F funds please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org describing what it is you would like done. All ideas offered will be discussed at the AGM.
Over the last 10 years the P & F have paid for:
- Blazers for the debaters.
