Class Liturgies on ZOOM!
Today I was able to join one of our Year 4 classes for their Reconciliation liturgy with Fr Brian. It was very moving as the children lead us in prayer. This is the 3rd class prayer to be available to parents via Zoom. We trust that parents are on the look out for the Zoom invite from the classroom teacher as they send them out. In the coming weeks (we are in Week 4 now) the following classes will be sharing a moment of prayer with their mums and dads:
Week 5 – Kindergarten and Year 1. These liturgies will be on either Thursday or Friday
Week 6 – Year 2B and Year 4B. These liturgies will be held on Wednesday
First Eucharist celebrations
Before our next newsletter a number of children at St Thomas and members of the Lower North Shore Parish will celebrate their First Communion. There are a number of masses planned over two weekends and shared between the three Churches in our Parish. Please keep the children and their families in your prayers as they look forward to this next step in their faith journey.
Let the Children Come to Me
With many opportunities to engage in the faith life of the school and in the parish, it is wonderful to see and hear the children talking about the stories of Jesus and how Jesus came to help us all. One Scripture that is shared often in the younger years is of the time when the disciples tried to stop the children coming to him. When sharing this story, we often engage in a Visio Divina a way of ‘sacred seeing’ of the Scriptures through the use of religious artwork. The children often talk about the need to accept all in our community and that in being like Jesus we should be people who include others. St Thomas is always a welcoming and inclusive community. Let’s pray that during these coming weeks as we move closer to Christmas, we continue to help the children and each other to see with the eyes of God and that we stop and think… and ask wondering questions
“What would Jesus do?”
