The awards will be handed out at the end of the year. Along with the completion certificates, 19 students will receive their Gold PRC awards and 3 will receive their Platinum PRC awards. More information will be given towards the end of the year.
Our visiting author, Oliver Phommavanh, will be at St Thomas next Monday 19th September to present his experiences as an author to the children. If you have any of his books, you can bring them in to have them signed.
I love seeing children enjoying reading the books we have in the library. I especially love it when they talk about what they have borrowed with their peers. One way to ensure that these books are available to everyone is that children return books on time. Currently, there’s quite a long list of children with overdue books. I would really appreciate it if these books are returned at the earliest convenience. Book return day is on Wednesdays, but the library door is always open for books to be placed in the returns slot.
Lunch With the Stars
On 4 September, eight year 6 students travelled with Mrs Ekmekjian and Mrs Harris to the Manly International College of Management for our exciting Lunch with the Stars.
We met a lot of great authors and we had Debra Tidball, author of The Scared Book, sit on our table, so we all went dressed up as monsters. We also had a competition with dressing up our tables, which we won. We were given a delicious lunch with all of the authors. The authors and illustrators spoke to us about their inspiration and the process of creating a book. After a big day, we travelled back to school with Mrs Ekmekjian and Ms Perry. All of us had a fantastic day and loved the opportunity.
