This year we were scheduled to hold our bi-annual musical in September. With all that has been happening in the world and the restrictions we have faced, we were unsure if that would still be possible. I am delighted to say that we will go ahead with a musical next term. I know that this is a highlight for many of the students and teachers! At this point in time we still need to be flexible, as to the location for staging the musical and the audience size and number of performances, depending on the social distancing measures that are in place closer to the time.
I have been exploring the musical with the year 5 and 6 students and talking about characters/roles. Auditions for this are open to students in years 5 and 6 and will be held before (8.15 am onwards) and after school (3.15 onwards) in weeks 9 and 10. Exact times/days for each audition are to be confirmed, once I know how many students wish to audition. Auditions are for students who want to have a main speaking part and/or solo singing part. All students in year 5 and 6 will have a role/involvement in the musical and there are also many smaller speaking roles or non-speaking parts for students to participate in. A google form is being made for the students to fill out to give their thoughts on the part they would like to have in the musical. I am really looking forward to working with the students over the coming weeks.
Kind Regards, Alison Dumitru
