Year 6 Nursing Home Visits (Social Justice Team)

Year 6 went to the Bupa and Elizabeth Lodge Rest Homes at the end of last term. We sang a few songs and gave them Easter cards. The songs that we sung to them were “Ain’t She Sweet”, “Daisy, Daisy”, “What a Wonderful World”, “Jailhouse Rock” and “Shake it Off”.

The residents really enjoyed our performances and we got a few yummy snacks (chips and lemonade) in return.

ANZAC Day Service at Club Willoughby (School Leaders)

On the 25 April, School Captains Giacomo B and Sabina B were invited to attend the Willoughby Anzac Day Service at Willoughby Bowling Club along with Mrs McKeown & Mrs Jones, Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney and MP Trent Zimmerman to name a few dignitaries

Other local school representatives gave speeches on what Anzac Day means to them. Our St Thomas Leaders carried out the wreath to the memorial steps.

As always it was touching to hear the Last Post and to receive some homemade Anzac biscuits at the end of the event.

ANZAC Day Ceremony (Liturgy Team)

As you may know. On the 30th of April St Thomas held an ANZAC Day service. This year, the focus of the service was military nurses who played an important role in all wars. St Thomas observed important parts of the remembrance ceremony including the ode, the last post and the lowering of the flag to half-mast.

Each class made their own wreaths which were brought up by two students. The ceremony was a fitting tribute and a reflective event in memory of all those who have served our country.
