Mission Mass – Earlier this term the Social Justice Leaders attended the Diocesan Mission Mass held at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral, Waitara. October is traditionally World Mission Month and each year the young leaders from across our diocese gather to celebrate the good works that each community is doing to assist our brothers and sisters who are struggling throughout our world. The students and I were blessed to attend this Mass as we were able to meet our new Bishop – Bishop Anthony Randazzo who presided over the celebration along with other priests from our Diocese.
This coming Friday our children at St Thomas will participate in a fundraising activity to support the works of Catholic Mission and we encourage all to hold God’s children in prayer.
All Saints Day – Year 4 led the whole school community in a wonderfully moving celebration on Friday for the Feast of All Saints Day. The students captured the movement of ‘The Beatitudes’ so reverently for the community and certainly sent us on our way to be saints in our homes and our schools through the joyful final song… Hear the sounds of the Saints as we march on… singing Hallelujah Amen! (Sound of the Saints by Audio Adrenaline)
Year 2 Family Mass – Our week of celebrations conclude with the Year 2 Family Mass on Sunday. The students did an amazing job leading the community in prayer and movement. Given the busy week of swimming and a carnival the students the Year 2 children still had energy to burn as they vibrantly lead the time of Thanksgiving after Communion. Their happy faces filled everyone with such joy as they shared the song of praise ‘Every Move I make (Waves of Mercy)’. A huge thanks to the Year 2 team and the parents for helping to make the morning a lovely time for all.
