Feast of St Mary of The Cross MacKillop
Please joins us on Thursday 8th August with the parish at 9am Mass to celebrate the Feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. This is a really special celebration for Australian Catholics as well as for those involved in Catholic Schools as we see St Mary of the Cross MacKillop as leader in Catholic Education.
St Thomas’ Catholic School commenced in 1928 when the Sisters of St Joseph from Mount Street, North Sydney were invited by the newly appointed priest, Father R. Darby, to staff a new school in Horsley Avenue, Willoughby. We are a part of the Josephite community and each day we strive to move ‘Forward in Faith’ like Mary and the Sisters of St Joseph. Let us be guided by Mary’s words
School and Parish Celebrations
Last Sunday was the Year 1 Family Mass and the attendance was amazing. The children in Year 1 certainly lifted the hearts of all as they led the community in a song of thanksgiving after communion.
The Mass was also a special celebration for the children who are preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation. They received a blessing from Fr Brian and the parish community and then the children handed out prayer cards inviting others to pray for them during this time. The celebration concluded with two members of the community receiving their First Eucharist.
The Year 1 parents certainly provided a feast for the morning tea afterwards which was greatly appreciated by all!
