Just what hungry children need: Year 2 devour no-knead bread
High Street Bakery watch out as you may just have some competition from across the road.
Last week the children in year 2 made no-knead bread as part of our science unit on materials and our English unit on procedure writing.
The simple recipe – containing only 4 ingredients was more a lesson in patience. We combined all the ingredients on Tuesday and then let the dough rise slowly overnight.
Into a hot oven went the dough on Wednesday morning and by munch and crunch the children were devouring their creation. To add a little more flavour, the children also had the opportunity to dip their bread in some olive oil and then a dry spices mix, which was also a component of the science lesson the day before. Contented gourmands all round.
