Acknowledgement of Country
We acknowledge that St Thomas Catholic Primary School stands on Cammeraygal Country. We pay our respects to the Cammeraygal people as the traditional custodians of this land, and to their Elders, past and present.
Our Heritage
We proudly celebrate our heritage as a school founded by the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart, the religious order established by Australia’s first saint, Saint Mary MacKillop of the Cross. The Josephite charism of justice, hope, compassion, citizenship and stewardship continues to shape the life and spirit of our school today. It is reflected in the way we care for one another, reach out to those in need, and uphold the dignity of every person within our community.
Student Wellbeing
At St Thomas, we believe that children learn best when they feel safe, supported and connected. Our approach to student wellbeing is proactive and whole-school — built into daily routines, pastoral care structures and the relationships between staff and students. We take the social and emotional growth of every child as seriously as their academic progress, because we know the two are inseparable.
Our Approach to Learning
We design contemporary learning experiences grounded in the current syllabus and best-practice teaching. Our curriculum emphasises the importance of all Key Learning Areas with particular focus on Religious Education, Literacy and Numeracy. We offer specialist programs in Music, STEM, French and Physical Education — broadening students’ experiences and helping them discover strengths and passions beyond the core curriculum.
We are committed to inclusive education, ensuring every student — regardless of background, ability or learning style — is known, valued and given every opportunity to succeed.
Our students consistently achieve above-average NAPLAN results in Literacy and Numeracy in Years 3 and 5 — a testament to our dedicated and professional teaching staff and the hard work of our students.
In 2026, our students achieved outstanding results across all areas of learning, reflecting a strong commitment to academic excellence. In Year 3, more than 83% of students achieved in the top two achievement bands (Exceeding and Strong) across Reading, Writing and Numeracy, with an impressive 90.9% in Writing.
Year 5 students also delivered exceptional results, with over 89% of students achieving in the top two achievement bands across all assessed areas. Particularly strong performances were seen in Numeracy (93.1%) and Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (91.35%), highlighting the success of our targeted teaching programs and high expectations for student achievement.
These outstanding results reflect our commitment to knowing every learner and helping each child achieve their personal best. Our teachers tailor learning programs to meet a diverse range of interests, strengths and abilities, ensuring students are both supported and challenged. Gifted and high-potential learners are proactively identified and provided with extension and acceleration opportunities across year levels and subject areas. Where additional support is required, individual learning adjustments are implemented so that every student can access, engage with and thrive in their learning.
