The role of the Learning Support Teacher at St Thomas School is to provide support for students with specific learning needs across all year levels.
Academic support programs are developed and implemented in a co-operative mode. These programs make adjustments to the class program with the aim of supporting the learning needs of students – from those who need extra assistance in learning to those who are highly capable. Liaison with outside specialists (speech therapists, psychologists, etc.) is an important part of the role, as is collaboration with the classroom teacher.
